Farm Events & Dates

Please join us at Giant Journey Farm for some of our fun and educational events!

Over the course of the farming season, we host monthly work days on the farm where you can come lend a hand, build community, and get to know your local farmers.

We also have monthly social gatherings, a workshop series, homeschool classes, and other fun events, so check back to see what we’re up to.

Always, the health and safety of our young family and community’s most vulnerable is in the forefront of our minds. For that reason, our farm is a masking facility in situations where folks will be in close proximity. You can read more about our health policies here.

Queer Bonfire

Come one, come all! Let’s experience rural queer joy!

We’ll provide marshmallows for toasting and cocoa/seltzer (depending on weather), feel free to bring whatever else would make your visit here sing!

Please email us as an informal RSVP (helpful but not mandatory!) and read our social expectations so we can be sure everyone is on the same page.

Our COVID-19 policy: in order to keep our youngest children and all our vulnerable community members safe, we are a masking facility, absolutely and without exception. At public events (like this one) every person age 3+ must be wearing a mask (over their nose and mouth) while on the premises. Although our events are outdoors we commit to safety by masking. We have a small amount of adult size surgical masks and child size KN94s available if you are unable to bring your own.

Work Party

This month’s big project: PUT THE BEDS TO REST/PUT THE HARVEST UP!

*As always, other than our special project there is always other work that you can do if you’d rather help in another way.

There are so many reasons to come up to the farm and participate in a work party:

  • We can’t do it alone! We need your help! Many hands make lighter work, it takes a village, no man is an island! We’re working to resist the toxicity of bootstrap culture by embracing our deep need for connection.

  • As a community space we invite everyone to have ownership of the dream we’re building here. Let’s work collaboratively.

  • We are a teaching and skill building facility and believe the best way is through experience. Although we offer workshops that cover certain specific topics, work parties offer an organic and flexible space to learn not just from us but other’s who are offering their skills too- or to offer your knowledge to your neighbors.

**Safety and equal access are incredibly important to our mission. Everything you generously offer to do here should always align with your interests, skill set, and ability- light farming tasks, heavy-duty tasks, construction, cleaning, child-care, sharing your skill or talent… you name it!

Please email us as an informal RSVP (helpful but not mandatory!) and come with a signed release form (if possible, we’ll have some on hand if you need it).

Multi-age Playgroup

This is a FREE outdoor event on the farm for any child 0-12 and their adults. We’ll have a hands-on activity available but our focus is free-play and farm life so folks can feel free to simply explore the farm, visit animals, dig in the mud, walk in the forest, or do whatever feels developmentally fulfilling. This event is especially suited for active/adventurous kids and home/unschoolers and may be challenging for kids who are afraid of animals or have sensory challenges (although you are still very much welcome!).

Please email us as an informal RSVP (helpful but not mandatory!) and come with a signed release form (if possible, we’ll have some on hand if you need it).

This month’s big project: RE-SKINNING GREENHOUSE 1!

Absolutely wild- we’ve grown 8 years of produce in this greenhouse made of tree limbs and recycled greenhouse plastic. We couldn’t be more grateful for its steadfast service but to say its on its last leg would be a massive understatement- we’ve patched and taped but its time to operate! …
